is a Managing Associate within the Competition and Corporate groups in our Bucharest office. has more than nine years' experience in all matters related to competition law, with a particular focus on antitrust and merger control, advising companies across a wide range of sectors, including automotive, life sciences, FMCG, retail, IT and consumer electronics. Her competition law expertise includes advising clients with respect to their relationship with the Romanian Competition Council, in both sector inquiries and targeted investigations aimed at potential breaches of both Romanian Competition Law and EU competition rules. Her expertise in this field ranges from assisting clients during dawn raids, including during the conduct of forensic searches at the premises of the Romanian Competition Council, preparing risk assessment and defence strategy, drafting observations to the statement of objections, to assisting clients to challenge before Romanian courts the sanctioning decisions of the Romanian Competition Council. Ana-Maria has also been involved in the preparation and implementation of antitrust compliance programmes for a number of clients, conducting training, competition audits and mock dawn raids. She is also involved in the assessment of day-to-day competition-related implications of a wide range of business models, ie legal review of a wide range of commercial agreements, discount policies and promotional campaigns to ensure full competition compliance. She also has experience advising clients on intellectual property and consumers' protection matters (with a particular focus on advertising law matters).
