About Kippo Shibayama

Kippo Shibayama is a partner at Abe, Ikubo & Katayama, admitted to the Japanese Bar in 2014. He specialises in AI law and AI governance, advising Japanese and global companies on AI regulation, data protection and IP, including the implications of the EU AI Act and other international frameworks for operations in Japan. He serves as a member of METI’s expert committee on the AI Guidelines for Business and of the Digital Agency’s Advanced AI Utilisation Advisory Board. He is one of the few practitioners in Japan who bridges AI rule-making at the government level and hands-on advisory work.
