João G Gil Figueira is a partner and co-founder of GFDL Advogados. A tax and business lawyer with over 15 years’ experience advising domestic and multinational clients on cross-border commercial and corporate matters, international taxation, investment structures, M&A transactions, commercial contracts, shareholder disputes, corporate litigation, and regulatory compliance, he regularly advises clients in the TMT, fintech, blockchain/Web3 and media sectors, including on licensing, governance, anti-money-laundering (AML) and regulatory matters, leading complex negotiations and managing disputes, with a view to achieving commercially efficient outcomes while minimising exposure to contentious proceedings. He assists private clients with tax planning, business migration, asset protection and estate structuring and has co-authored several books and articles, speaking internationally on taxation, foreign direct investment, and cryptocurrency regulation in Portugal.
