He specialises in funds management and financial services regulation, advising both sponsors and investors on the establishment and operation of, and investment into, wholesale investment funds across a range of alternative asset classes, including private equity, infrastructure and real estate. James has also advised on a range of fund-related matters, including managed investment trust conversions, capital raisings, M&A transactions and consortium arrangements. Prior to joining Allens, James trained and worked at Linklaters (London) in its award-winning funds management team. James has authored a number of submissions to Treasury in relation to the proposed new Australian corporate collective investment vehicle regime and co-authored an article on the new attribution managed investment trust regime for the journal of the Governance Institute of Australia.
