About Ayanthi Abeyawickrama

Ayanthi Abeyawickrama is a partner at Varners who specialises in capital market law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate transactions. Formerly the Director of Legal & Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, she played a key role in drafting the Securities and Exchange Commission Act, No 19 of 2021, and in developing key regulatory frameworks, including the revised Takeovers and Mergers Code. Ayanthi is an associate of the Toronto Centre for Financial Supervision. She also has extensive litigation experience in public, commercial, labour and family law. Ayanthi regularly advises corporates and private clients on due diligence, investment structuring and regulatory compliance in capital markets.
