Edwin J. Seda-Fernández is a shareholder and the chairperson of the labour and employment law department. His practice covers exclusive representation of employers in the private and public sectors, defence of management with claims and proceedings involving unions and individual employees and also includes representing management during union campaigns, negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements, and acting as trial counsel in labour arbitrations and before the National Labor Relations Board. Mr Seda-Fernández represents employers before administrative agencies and in federal and Puerto Rico courts in cases of wrongful discharge, discrimination suits by employees, sexual harassment in the workplace, wage and hour claims, benefit claims, and employment-related tort cases such as defamation and privacy rights violations. A substantial element of the practice consists of general counselling with clients regarding avoidance of litigation as well as compliance with Puerto Rico and federal labour laws, employment discrimination statutes, executive orders, ERISA, airline labour and employment laws, and other laws governing various aspects of employment. Mr Seda-Fernández has extensive experience in labour and employment matters pertaining to reorganisations of businesses, reductions in force, plant closings, mergers, acquisitions, and transfers of going concerns. He is a member of the Federal and American Bar Associations and has contributed to numerous publications relating to employment law.
