About Dennis Wamala

Dennis Wamala is a Senior Partner with the Firm and has practiced law in Uganda since 1998. From 2001 to 2017, he acted as Company Secretary /principal external legal advisor to Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), the state enterprise that exclusively owns and operates the high voltage transmission grid in Uganda. In that capacity, he participated in the negotiations, drafting and review of all major project documents relating to the energy sector in Uganda including the Bujagali/Karuma/ Isimba Power Projects, the ESKOM/Umeme Concessions and agreements relating to the export and import of electricity by UETCL. He is a Rights of Way expert and has been retained as Team Leader to advise various electricity state enterprises on easement acquisition and management best practice. He has also been retained by the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA), the residual UEB, UETCL and Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) as Lead Counsel in most of the ground breaking civil actions relating to the electricity sector in Uganda since 2001 and has been instrumental in resolving key electricity related disputes through alternative dispute resolution and litigation.
