Livia Zamfiropol is a partner in the DLA Piper Bucharest office and head of the competition practice. An expert in Romanian competition law, she has more than 17 years of experience in the field in a wide array of industries, including highly regulated sectors (such as telecommunications, media, pharmaceuticals), e-commerce, IT, automotive, food and beverages, and retail. She has been involved in complex antitrust investigations concerning anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominance, and in merger cases. She has co-ordinated and implemented a large number of antitrust compliance programmes and has also assisted clients with strategic advice in litigation proceedings involving the challenge to decisions issued by the RCC. A member of the Competition and State Aid Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, she co-ordinated this committee during amendments to competition law which occurred from 2009–2016. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, and authored the Romania chapter of The Dominance and Monopolies Review, The Law Reviews, Abuse of dominant position, in October 2017 (Edition 5) and June 2018 (Edition 6).
