About Veronica Roberts

Veronica Roberts leads Herbert Smith Freehills’ UK competition, regulation and trade practice and its global foreign direct investment (FDI) group. She specialises in EU and UK competition law, with more than 25 years’ experience of dealing with high-profile competition investigations and merger clearances globally. She is an expert at co-ordinating multi-jurisdictional merger control and FDI reviews and filings and has been involved in a number of the conditional clearances issued to date under the UK’s new FDI National Security and Investment (NSI) regime. She was the only private practice lawyer to be invited to give evidence to the House of Commons when it was reviewing the first year of the UK’s NSI regime in practice.
