About Tiago de Mattos Silva

Tiago de Mattos Silva is a partner at William Freire Advogados Associados and head of its mining industry group. He specialises in mineral law; regulations and governance; mining transactions, contracts and corporate issues; and mineral disputes. He is also the President of the Brazilian Institute of Mineral Law (Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Minerário). Tiago graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and has an LLM (distinction) in Mineral Law and Policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee, UK. He has in-depth expertise in mining industry legal issues, both advisory and litigation and is a frequently an author/speaker for publications and events related to the mineral sector.
