About Herman van Schalkwyk

Herman van Schalkwyk is a patent attorney and partner at Spoor & Fisher. He holds degrees in mechanical engineering and law and holds an MBA. His practice covers domestic and international patent and design matters, with a particular focus on the protection of inventions and designs within the mechanical, civil and general engineering fields. He enjoys lecturing and training, and is currently the moderator on South African Design Law for the Patent Examination Board and the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law. Herman also has a keen interest in the management of organisations and currently serves on the firm’s executive committee and is responsible for driving business transformation including the implementation and use of technology.
