About Gunnar Baumgärtel

Gunnar Baumgärtel is a patent attorney specialised in national and international patent prosecution, opposition proceedings and patent litigation, mainly in the fields of automotive engineering, electronics, optics, software and telecommunications. He has participated in hundreds of disputes before the Federal Patent Court, the civil courts and the Unified Patent Court, including in disputes concerning standard essential patents. Gunnar Baumgärtel is involved in the Executive Board of GRUR, heads the working group “Patent and Utility Model Law” for patent attorney trainees in Berlin, and is an executive editor of the magazine GRUR Patent.
