is a partner who practises mainly in resources law, taxation, corporate, telecommunications and government relations, and in assisting innumerable foreign direct investors with establishing themselves in PNG. He has significant experience in negotiating state agreements for major resources projects in PNG (in the tuna, oil and gas, and nickel industries in particular) and drafting legislation. John, who is also a leading tax practitioner in PNG, a member of the national working group on improving the business and investment climate in Papua New Guinea, the president of the Papua New Guinea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a board member of the Bank of Papua New Guinea. John was previously a senior advising officer with the Policy and Legislation Directorate of the Australian Taxation Office in Canberra, the Assistant Commissioner (mining and special projects) for the Internal Revenue Commission in PNG and managing partner at both Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
