About Katsuya Hongyo

Katsuya Hongyo is a partner at Chuo Sogo Law Office, P.C., and is admitted to practice in Japan and New York. His practice areas include IP, M&A, international transactions, financial regulations, data privacy and compliance. He represents Japanese and overseas clients in IP litigation and dispute resolution, He also advises Japanese start-ups regarding patent, trade mark, and copyright-related issues. While working as a visiting attorney at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago, he represented a Swiss-American pharmaceutical and medical device company in patent litigation against a Japanese company. He received an LLM degree with honours from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in 2022 and is fluent in both Japanese and English.
