Edsel F Tupaz heads the data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI initiatives at Gorriceta Africa Cauton & Saavedra. Edsel’s practice areas include data privacy and cybersecurity; telecommunications, media and technology; special projects and infrastructure; energy; public procurement; and general corporate services. A dual-qualified lawyer under the Philippine and New York Bar, Edsel serves either as data protection officer or lead legal adviser to many of the most impactful technology companies in Southeast Asia. Previously, Edsel was a senior public official at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), a director at a legislative office of a Philippine senator, and clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Hilario G Davide, Jr.
