specialises in insurance and reinsurance, maritime law, aviation (liabilities), arbitration and litigation. He studied law at the Catholic University of Valparaíso, and obtained LL.M. and JSD degrees at Yale Law School, and was awarded the Ambrose Gherini Prize for writing the best paper on public law. He lectures on commercial and international law at the University of Chile and Catholic University of Valparaíso. He was President of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA-Chile) between 2007 and 2009. He is on the panel of the Arbitration and Mediation Centres of the Santiago and Valparaiso Chambers of Commerce, and the Arbitration Commission for Public Works concessions.
