About Oscar Graça Couto

Oscar Graça Couto is a founding partner of Graça Couto Advogados. He is one of the pioneers of environmental lawyering in Brazil, with more than 30 years of experience, mainly in the energy, mining, oil and gas, and pulp and paper sectors. His practice focuses on preventive counselling, ESG issues, and administrative and judicial litigation. In the last ten years, he has represented clients in lawsuits involving claims of over USD40 billion. He holds a master’s in comparative law from the University of Michigan and teaches environmental law at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro Law School.
