About Jānis Kārkliņš

Jānis Kārkliņš is managing partner at BERG and leads the firm’s banking and finance department. He has extensive experience advising financial institutions and lenders on national, international financing matters, particularly project finance (including real estate development projects), bond issuance, foreign investment, factoring, development of internal control systems, and financial institution licensing, debt recovery and M&A. In addition to his practice, he is a professor at the University of Latvia and a legal science expert recognised by the Latvian Science Council. He also serves as chairman of the Bar Examination Committee of the Latvian Bar Association and the examination committee of the Latvian Council of Sworn Notaries.
