About Clovis Torres

Clovis Torres is a founding partner of Mello Torres and leads the Project Finance, Mining, Regulatory and Debt Restructuring practices. He served as CEO of Furnas (2021–2022) and as Executive Director and General Counsel of Vale S.A. (2011–2018), overseeing Legal, Tax, ESG, Governance and M&A. He was Executive Vice President of Bahia Mineração for the Pedra de Ferro project and served as President of IBRAM (2014–2017). He also chaired the Board of Petrobras Distribuidora. Clovis holds an LLB from UCSal and an LLM from Tulane University, and he has received awards from ACC and ILO.
