About Birungyi Cephas Kagyenda

Birungyi Cephas Kagyenda is a founder and managing partner at Birungyi, Barata & Associates. He is an advocate of the High Court and a registered tax agent with the URA. He heads the East African Law Society Tax Cluster and is a member of the IBA Tax Committee. With over 35 years of tax and legal expertise, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of the URA, and has represented Uganda in negotiating and drafting double taxation agreements with several countries. He was instrumental in drafting Uganda’s Income Tax Act and Tax Appeals Tribunal Act. Cephas has, over the years, been recognised as one of Uganda’s top tax lawyers.
