is a partner and a retired Indian Revenue Service officer who through the course of his illustrious 31-year career as a public servant has handled diverse assignments in the sphere of regulation, public finance and policy. Having been appointed the first Director General of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) from 2004 to 2009, Amitabh played a pivotal role in setting up the policy and regulatory framework of the Indian competition regime in its formative years. He assisted the government of India in drafting the Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2007 and was also responsible for drafting nine implementing regulations. Amitabh leads the competition team at JSA. As such, his role allows him to handle complex cases of abuse of dominance and cartelisation as well as merger filings. Further, Amitabh is also actively involved in transaction structuring to ensure competition law compliance and organising competition compliance programmes for various companies.
