About Matthew Joy

Matthew Joy is an experienced litigator and partner at Hiser Joy. He practises in the areas of environmental, natural resources and water quality litigation, focusing on water, waste and cleanup issues. For almost 20 years, he has advised clients on developing permitting strategies, ranging from routine to novel and complex strategies, and has obtained agency approval for hundreds of Clean Water Act permits, including discharge and “dredge and fill” permits. Matthew has extensive experience in defending against and, where appropriate, negotiating settlements in, multimillion dollar enforcement and toxic tort cases.
