About Otto Marres

Otto Marres is a lawyer (admitted to the Dutch bar), a partner at Lubbers, Boer & Douma (since March 2025) and a professor of tax law at the University of Amsterdam. Otto represents clients before district courts, appellate courts, and the Supreme Court (including oral arguments before the Supreme Court) in matters involving withholding taxes, corporate income tax, tax treaties and EU tax law. Before joining the firm, Otto was a tax lawyer at two law firms and a large international tax consultancy firm. From 2009 to 2018, he was also a deputy justice at the Court of Appeals in The Hague. Otto is a member of the Dutch Bar Association (NOvA) and the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (NOB).
