About Catherine Miao

Catherine Miao is a partner at JunHe LLP with 30 years’ experience. She specialises in insolvency, restructuring, distressed M&A, special situations, NPL, structured finance, corporate law, and real estate. Catherine has advised major SOEs, financial institutions, PE firms, multinationals, and real estate developers. Known for handling complex non-litigation matters, she has pioneered innovative legal work in China, including its first foreign-funded NPL disposal. She has represented asset management companies and special situations funds on non-performing assets and distressed M&A restructuring projects for asset management companies and special situations funds, with a total book value exceeding $20 billion. Catherine has worked with Fortune 500 companies on investments, M&A, and operations in China on hundreds of real estate transactions.
