About Ian Gauci

Ian Gauci is the managing partner of GTG Legal and a leading figure in technology, media and telecommunications and fintech law. With over twenty years of legal experience, he is recognised for his pioneering work in blockchain, digital assets, and emerging technologies, having advised both private industry and regulatory authorities and having co-authored key legislative frameworks, including the Maltese Electronic Communications Framework and the Digital Innovation Laws. He also lectured at the University of Malta, cementing his role in shaping the next generation of technology law and policy experts. Currently, he is the Chairperson of the AI in Fintech working group under the remit of the Malta Financial Services Advisory Council - Strategy for Financial Services in Malta. He also serves as an independent non-executive director on the board of a crypto-asset service provider and is also strategic adviser to the board of one of the largest banks in Malta.
