is a partner in the Restructuring/Insolvency team, and counsels numerous debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees and equity holders in cases involving a wide spectrum of industries, including banking, retail, real estate, construction and cross-border enterprises. He has been appointed as a trustee or deputy trustee by the Japanese court in many famous reorganisation cases in Japan. He recently served as the representing liquidator in the Lehman Brothers Japan case, which was one of the largest bankruptcy cases in Japan. He represented the lease creditor, Intrepid Aviation, in the civil rehabilitation proceedings of Skymark Airlines. He successfully persuaded the Tokyo District Court into permitting Intrepid Aviation to submit the alternative rehabilitation plan nominating Delta Air Lines as a candidate of sponsor to Skymark Airlines in addition to the debtor's rehabilitation plan; this kind of court permission was unprecedented. He also has extensive experience in advising on crisis management matters.
