Afamefuna Nwokedi has over 30 years of practice experience in the area of intellectual property and commercial law litigation and is the principal counsel and group head of Stillwaters Law Firm. He has been involved in several intellectual property (IP) law initiatives, building processes and case law development in Nigeria. He was a member of the Federal Government Committee for the establishment of the Intellectual Property Commission and a member of the Nigerian delegation to OHADA (African Association for the Harmonisation and Development of Commercial Law) with specific representation on IP. Afamefuna has served in the anti-counterfeiting committee of the Washington, DC-based INTA and the New York-based Intellectual Property Owners (IPO). He advocates before the trial and appellate courts in Nigeria and has authored and presented several publication and papers on Intellectual Property law in Nigeria. Afamefuna is widely published on the subject of IP and related areas, chairs many IP-related initiatives and is the current Chairman of the IP Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association-Section on Business Law. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants. Afamefuna sits on the board of several companies and is a member of various local and international associations, including NBA, IPLAN, AEA, MARQUES, INTA, AIPPI, IBA, and ILN.
