About Colin Trehearne

Colin Trehearne is an English- and Canadian-qualified international arbitration specialist at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto with substantial experience in international commercial arbitration across diverse sectors including mining, energy, pharmaceuticals, technology, insurance, and space tourism. Colin also has public international law experience and has advised on WTO matters, territorial disputes, the right to self-determination, and the law applicable to UN bodies. He is a former associate professor at Keio University Law School and current professor at Sophia University lecturing on dispute resolution, the regulation of multinationals, and international law. Colin has previously practised law in Canada (at Dentons Canada), Japan (at Herbert Smith Freehills), and England (at Boies Schiller Flexner UK), having returned to Tokyo in 2022.
