About Hideaki Roy Umetsu

Hideaki Roy Umetsu is Mori Hamada’s New York managing partner with over 20 years of experience in cross-border corporate matters, including M&A, compliance, business and human rights, and trade compliance. He advises on policy and legislation for the Japanese government, including the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and the Cabinet Secretariat, and has worked with the United Nations Development Programme on business and human rights initiatives. He is the former Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Forum and currently serves as Co-Vice Chair of the Future of Legal Service Commission of the International Bar Association.
