About Makoto Sakai

Makoto Sakai is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, and works primarily in the practice areas of wealth management, tax and M&A. In relation to wealth management, he has handled many cases involving domestic and cross-border business succession planning, as well as inheritance planning and tax disputes. Making the most of his experience as a former Review Officer at the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau, he takes a pragmatic approach when examining matters from a tax perspective. Makoto has authored and co-authored many books, including “Legal and Tax Affairs in Business Successions and M&A for Family Businesses”.
