About Yo Ota

Yo Ota has been a partner at Nishimura & Asahi (GKJ) since 2003. He is the head of the firm’s shareholder activism and corporate defence practice group and tax practice group. Yo specialises in M&A (friendly and hostile), shareholder activism, proxy fights, cross-border transactions, corporate governance and tax law (domestic and international). A graduate of the University of Tokyo (LLB) in 1991 and of the Harvard Law School (LLM) in 2000, he was admitted to the Japanese Bar in 1993 and to the New York Bar in 2001. He has written several books.
