About Yo Ota

Yo Ota has been a partner at Nishimura & Asahi since 2003. He is the head of the firm’s shareholder activism defence practice group and tax practice group, and specialises in mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, tax, corporate governance, and intellectual property and media matters. A graduate of the University of Tokyo (LLB) in 1991 and Harvard Law School (LLM) in 2000, he is admitted to the Bar in Japan (1993) and New York (2001). Yo served as a professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate Schools for Law and Politics from 2013 to 2016 and is the author of several books.
