About Yo Ota

Yo Ota has been a partner at Nishimura & Asahi since 2003. He is the head of its shareholder activism defence practice group and its tax practice group, and specialises in M&A, cross-border transactions, tax, corporate governance, intellectual property (IP) and media matters. A graduate of the University of Tokyo (LLB) in 1991 and Harvard Law School (LLM) in 2000, he was admitted to the Bar in Japan (1993) and New York (2001). He served as a professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate Schools for Law and Politics from 2013 to 2016. He has also written several books.
