About Yuki Sakurada

Yuki Sakurada is a counsel at Nishimura & Asahi (Gaikokuho Kyodo Jigyo), specialising in investment screening, sanctions, export controls and other economic security or supply chain-related matters. From 2019 to 2022, Yuki served as the director for foreign direct investment issues in Japan’s Ministry of Finance, where he was the chief architect of the overhaul of Japan’s FDI screening system in 2020. As a government official, Yuki was also involved in the prohibition on new investment in Russia in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and other sanctions-related policy matters.
