He engages in mergers and acquisitions and various general corporate matters, and has handled, inter alia, JAPAN POST’s acquisition of Toll Holdings, Idemitsu’s acquisition of Showa Shell shares from Royal Dutch Shell, the integration of UFJ Bank Group and Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group, the demutualisation and GPO of the Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was a visiting professor of law at Harvard Law School in 2007 and 2013 and has been professor of law at Hitotsubashi University since 2006. Masakazu is the co-author of Casebook: Mergers & Acquisitions and is an active member of the International Institute for the study of Cross-Border Investment and M&A.
