About Janet Whiting

Janet Whiting heads Gilbert + Tobin’s disputes and investigations practice in Melbourne, with extensive experience in corporate and regulatory areas as one of the pre-eminent commercial litigators in Australia. She has a proven ability to work with government, boards, senior bureaucrats and senior executives. Janet’s recent successes include obtaining a record judgment in the Supreme Court of Victoria for the global company Cargill against Glencore, affirmed by the Court of Appeal (with all 24 grounds of appeal rejected) and a Special Leave application to the High Court refused. Janet also led the team succeeding in no penalty for her client in ASIC’s test case on cyber security.
