About David Azcue

David Azcue co-heads Simpson Thacher’s Private Funds Practice in Japan. He advises clients on fundraising, investments, financing and operations across a broad range of sectors and strategies. Working with domestic legal and tax counsel, he helped pioneer the structures permitting both Japanese and non-Japanese investors to invest in Japan-focused funds. He also steered the ground-breaking GP-led secondaries transaction in Japan, and advised on development of new retail and HNWI distribution channels in the country. Over almost two decades of practice, David has advised on many market-defining fundraises and funds-related transactions.
