Michael Allan is a partner and chair of Steptoe's trade mark and copyright groups, focusing on complex IP litigation and brand protection, including trade mark, trade dress, copyright, trade secret, anti-counterfeiting, and online enforcement disputes, representing luxury, consumer products, music, entertainment, technology, and other brand-driven companies in matters involving counterfeiting and infringement, unauthorised resellers, grey-market goods, digital piracy, platform liability, false advertising, trade-secret misuse, and emerging AI-related risks. He is a lead trial counsel who has tried numerous cases to verdict, appearing in federal district and appellate courts throughout the US, before the International Trade Commission and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
