About Bill Gilliland

Bill Gilliland is a partner of Dentons’ corporate, securities and M&A practice group. Bill advises power and energy infrastructure companies on capital markets and M&A transactions, as well as board governance generally. Bill is a leader in ESG governance and finance, representing Dentons Canada as a member of the International Capital Markets Association Green Bond Principles since 2014 and also as a member of the CSA Group’s technical committee developing the Made in Canada Transition Finance Taxonomy following the 2019 recommendations of the Federal Government’s Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance. Bill is a member of the Advisory Council to the Green and Social Bond Principles Executive Committee. Bill’s work includes ESG and sustainable finance, including in the areas of green, transition and sustainability bonds. Bill holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and has completed the board oversight of climate change course. Bill leads Dentons Canada’s ESG Igniter Group.
