About Assunção Cristas

Assunção Cristas joined VdA as an of counsel in 2022 and became partner in 2024. She is co-head of the environment & climate change practice area and head of the firm’s ESG Integrated Services Platform. She is an associate professor at Nova School of Law, where she lectures at the undergraduate level, in addition to acting as co-ordinator of the master’s degree in Law and Economics of the Sea – Ocean Governance. Assunção has been the Minister of Agriculture, Sea, and Environment, responsible for the institutional reorganisation of several areas of administration, the negotiation of the European Common Agricultural Policy reform, and participation in the COPs.
