About Duncan Longstaff

Duncan Longstaff has 19 years’ experience as a specialist IP lawyer. His practice focuses on patent disputes, including in the mining/energy, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agrifood tech, medical device, information technology, financial services and consumer goods sectors. He is an expert litigator, conducting major complex IP litigation in the Federal Court of Australia and High Court of Australia for many major Australian and foreign clients, including Dyno Nobel (explosives), Otsuka and Lundbeck (pharmaceuticals), Zoetis (animal health), Ecolab/Nalco (industrial chemicals), InfoTrack (ICT) and Fuchs (industrial lubricants). Duncan has also established a significant practice in conducting oppositions in the Australian Patent Office.
