About Ramón Palacín

Ramón Palacín is the managing partner at EY Abogados. He joined EY in 2006 as head of the international tax group, and is currently based in the firm’s Madrid office. Prior to joining EY, Ramón worked as a tax inspector (he passed the state exam in 1997), serving as senior advisor on international tax matters to the Secretary of State (2001-2002), and then as head of the advanced pricing agreement programme (2003-2006). An expert in international taxation and transfer pricing, Ramón provides strategic assistance to Spanish and European multinationals in various sectors, from energy to retail. His focus is on aligning business strategy with finance and taxation. He has experience advising US and European multinationals during tax and audit processes as well as on APAs. Ramon has led successful tax settlement procedures, resulting in disclosure filings before the Security and Exchange Commission in the USA due to their accounting significance and public impact. He has contributed extensively to publications and collaborated with prestigious institutions on issues including international tax controversy. For five years, Ramon was the independent person of standing under 90/463/EEC: Convention on the elimination of double taxation in connection with the adjustment of profits of associated enterprises (the European Arbitration Convention).
