In addition, he often advises on the tax structuring of corporate reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, fund structuring, VAT, transfer pricing for financial services and international/EC tax law. Jan studied law at the University of Constance, from which he holds a doctor of laws degree. He also obtained a master of laws degree (M Jur) from the University of Oxford. Jan was admitted to the Bar in 1998 and joined Freshfields in 1999. He qualified as a certified tax adviser in 2001 and became a partner in 2004.
