For the time being, there are no special regulations governing advertising of medicines on the internet. Such advertising is subject to general requirements for advertising and peculiarities of medicinal advertising. Advertising of over-the-counter medicines should be carried out taking into account all requirements and prohibitions and advertising/information regarding prescription medicines may be disseminated with due account for the exceptions.
Application of exceptions:
Advertising for medicines on social media is not prohibited subject to compliance with the requirements to advertising.
Companies should guarantee that only authorised persons have access to the page with information, which can be done by means of restricting access. Please also see 7.1. Regulation of Advertising of Medicinal Products on the Internet for further details.
